We can’t remain silent about this...

Thanks in advance for reading this update after nearly a year of radio silence.

In January, I (Scott) announced that courage would be my focus for 2021, and that I’d need courage to start “speaking up” about my “divergent views” and face the “social consequences.” I jokingly referred to it as The Great Un-pussification. Then I courageously went into hiding for most of the year.

But I wasn’t exactly cowering the whole time. Seems I needed to test my mettle privately first, through a series of tough decisions and leaps of faith that included Beth and me uprooting from the city we’d lived in for more than 40 years and moving to a place we’d never even visited, 2500 miles away, in East Tennessee. (That’s a story for another day...)

Now that I’ve had some time to catch my breath, I’m returning to my New Year’s resolution: speaking up about our views on — you guessed it — covid, lockdowns, mask mandates, vaccines, passports, and other concerning societal developments.

Beth and I are very concerned about the widespread scapegoating of people who do not agree with the mainstream perspectives and responses to COVID-19, not least because we are among those dissidents.

We just published a one-page summary of our views related to covid, and we’re inviting you to take a look and to give us the benefit of the doubt — not that we’re “right” but that we’ve thought deeply and critically about these issues.

We don’t need to change anyone’s mind, but we will no longer stand by silently as our fundamental freedoms and rights are being undermined. Those who see beyond the veil of fear must find the courage to stand up and speak out. (Better late than never.)
